Fundamental teaching certificate requirements

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION Fundamental Teaching Activities:

Our program is available to all faculty members of the department who are members of the CFPC or who are members of the Royal College and teach family medicine residents.  The Fundamental Teaching Activities certificate program addresses competencies that are required of the clinical preceptor in the clinical coach role. The clinical coach is described in the Fundamental Teaching Activities (FTA) Framework as "A clinical supervisor in day-to-day practice, employing clinical work for opportunistic teaching and learning." http://www.cfpc.ca/FTA/ As you read through the requirements for the certificate of completion you will note that each requirement references FTA activity,  Upon completion of all requirements please contact FMfacdev@dal.ca.


Completion of the certificate program includes three areas of study:

  1. Core modules
  2. Attendance at a faculty development event
  3. Reflective exercise
