Our program is available to all faculty members of the department who are members of the CFPC or who are members of the Royal College and teach family medicine residents.
The Fundamental Teaching Activities certificate program addresses competencies that are required of the clinical preceptor in the clinical coach role.
The clinical coach is described in the Fundamental Teaching Activities (FTA) Framework as "A clinical supervisor in day-to-day practice, employing clinical work for opportunistic teaching and learning." http://www.cfpc.ca/FTA/

Completion of the certificate program includes three areas of study:
The requirement to attend a faculty development event can be fulfilled by attending any accredited faculty development or medical education event that is at least two hours in duration in the past five years.
Examples of such an event include Dalhousie’s Department of Family Medicine Faculty Development Roadshow workshops or Faculty Development weekend, Dalhousie’s Clinician as Teacher “CAT” course, the CMPA Faculty Development Workshop, DMNB Medical Education event, Provincial College’s medical education courses.
You can fulfill this requirement by completing the Dal CPD online course on Reflection in Medicine, or by completing the Reflective Exercise below.
